FACTS FOR NEW CITIZENS ABOUT REGISTRATION & VOTING
As you prepare to take the oath of citizenship, the Los
Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Registrar-Recorder/County
Clerk extend their congratulations. As a United States citizen,
you are encouraged to register to vote and actively participate in
choosing your government representatives.
New Citizens who will be at least 18 years of age at the time of the
next election are eligible to register to vote. Registration must take
place at least 7 days before the election.
HOW AND WHERE TO REGISTER
- After the naturalization ceremony you may complete the voter registration
form provided and mail it to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s
office.
- Persons who become citizens after the close of registration may
register and vote at the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s office
between the 14th and 7th day before an election.
- New citizens must present a Certificate of Naturalization and declare
they have established residence in the County.
